A Moment with Lee

Meet Lee, a fashion designer and a close friend of mine and of omè. With inspiration to be found in everything she sees, traveling the world is her greatest love. That same curiosity runs through her relationship with fashion, from her studies at FIT in New York, where she specialized in knitwear, to the joy of creating and working in artistic environments.

When it comes to her own wardrobe, she keeps things classic: “Jeans and a tank top are my go-to, but I always have to add something fun to the look, especially jewelry.”

After a year and a half between Israel and New York, she’s getting ready to make the city home again. Before she goes, we sat down to talk art, fashion, and inspiration.

What’s a movie that always inspires you?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s! It’s set in my city, and the classic looks are so perfectly put together. They really inspire me.

What’s your go-to spot in New York?

Bar Pisellino is my go-to for a drink at any time of day, or a coffee to start the morning. It’s my favorite spot in the city!

What’s your favorite city, and what do you love about it?

My favorite city is Paris. I have to visit a few times a year, it gives me so much inspiration. The architecture, the art, the food, and the French! To me, they have the best taste in the world.
There’s nothing I love more than walking around the Marais and seeing how the French dress. I even studied French at university because I’ve always dreamed of being French.

What fashion trend are you loving at the moment?

Wide belts, of course! I’ve been into them for a few seasons, and lately I’ve really embraced them. It’s the easiest thing in the world! You can use a scarf or a long piece of fabric and tie it around your waist. I feel like it really elevates any look. I first spotted belts like these at a Dries Van Noten show a few years ago and fell in love.

How has your approach to shopping changed recently?

Recently, I’ve started being more thoughtful about what I buy. I prefer to buy less and invest more in classic, timeless pieces that fit my wardrobe and that I’ll keep for years, rather than buying piles of clothes from fast fashion brands.
What I love most is finding secondhand pieces, or even new pieces from small brands around the world. I get so excited every time I discover a small, unique brand that’s different from everyone else and has its own twist.

Which piece of jewelry means the most to you, and why?

The piece that means the most to me is a tennis bracelet my late father bought me when I was 15. I haven’t taken it off since, not even for a day.

Which omè piece is your favorite?

That’s so hard because I love everything so much! But I think the one I wore most was the beaded Nora Necklace with the big blue heart. It always adds a pop of color and makes a statement.
